Isis=Done

Isis, one of the most influential sludge metal bands after Neurosis, and one of the most successful bands to explore the crossover genre of post-metal/post-rock, has called it quits, permanently.

Here’s a blurb from their lengthy blog post on the subject:

This end isn’t something that occurred over night and it hasn’t been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close.

I can’t say that this makes me sad. I wasn’t too thrilled with the direction they were going with their last two albums, but at least they haven’t canceled their tour, so I will be seeing them live in a few months!
Here are some of my favorite Isis albums.
