Music Listens for March 19-23

What can I say? It’s been a slow music week, er, past couple weeks.

Here are a few tracks from the albums I’ve been enjoying.

Adanowsky – Amador
Yes, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s son. The music is interesting.

Crippled Black Phoenix – (Mankind) The Crafty Ape
It’s good.

Neurosis – A Sun that Never Sets
And how’s about an oldie? (Which reminds me. When are these guys going to release another album?)

Music Listens for November 14-18

Besides one instance, seems like it’s been a mostly oldies week.

Atriarch – Forever the End

This new album caught my interest. Brutal yet restrained. The vocals aren’t annoying, and the atmospherics add resonance. Reminds me of something, but I can’t remember what.

Mono – Under the Pipal Tree

Talk about an oldie. I didn’t realize that they released this album way back in 2001! Mono just never ceases to amaze me. I wonder if or when they’ll release a new album.

Jakob – Subsets of Sets

The pretty country in New Zealand must have provided (and continues to provide) some grand musical inspiration. Jakob are another band who must release a new album (soon).

Beast in the Field – Lucifer, Bearer of Light

The Destroying Angel is from Beast in the Field’s newest offering Lucifer, Bearer of Light, and although I’m not sure how much I like it compared to 2010’s World Ending, the new album has some slimy, distortion soaked doom metal goodness to ponder.

Music Listens for November 7-11

Yes, and finally, I’ve started blogging on my music predilections for the week.

Destroyer – Kaput

It’s kinda weird, but the LP is growing on me.

Jesse Morris – Wanna Take it All Back: In Memory

He’s a dead wringer for Johnny Cash, and, sadly he just died a few days ago.

Black Joe Lewis – Scandalous

Fabulously fun rhythm & blues that keeps you interested throughout.

Black Cobra – Invernal

Bring it on. I’ve been waiting for these guys to release a new disc for a while, and their new offering doesn’t disappoint a bit.
