One Blog to Rule Them All

I’ve decided to meld my old scholarly/music/randomness blog into my photo blog. I wrote in it for well over six years and couldn’t bear to just retire (delete it all). Enjoy!

Site Difficulties

I’ve been gearing up to post my 2012 projects to the site, but, alas, there’s something wrong with my site galleries. I’ve been working with peerapong to get my galleries working again, but nothing has worked so far. They’ve been giving me grief for well over six months! It’s pretty frustrating. I may release some photos on the blog to keep the content coming, but I haven’t decided yet.

The Friday Essay series will continue to churn out though, so keep an eye for them.

Album Releasing…Grand Magus – Hammer of the North

It’s coming…June 23.

Isis, one of the most influential sludge metal bands after Neurosis, and one of the most successful bands to explore the crossover genre of post-metal/post-rock, has called it quits, permanently.

Here’s a blurb from their lengthy blog post on the subject:

This end isn’t something that occurred over night and it hasn’t been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close.

I can’t say that this makes me sad. I wasn’t too thrilled with the direction they were going with their last two albums, but at least they haven’t canceled their tour, so I will be seeing them live in a few months!
Here are some of my favorite Isis albums.
